31 days into the new year and it feels like this isn’t a year for the girlies.

I recently went through a breakup, and it felt as though every single day was a struggle just to get out of bed. However, despite that overwhelming sense of agony, I managed to find a way to love life and myself again. I hope you can find your way there too. Through this experience, I came to realize a few important things:

  1. the first nights sleeping alone are the hardest
  2. it feels 100x worse when you lose your best friend too
  3. the feeling of rediscovery made the temporary pain worth it

I know it can be easy to lose your self in a relationship but don’t let anyone strip you of your identity (in or out of a relationship). It’s so easy to become co-dependent but before him, there was only you. You cooked. You made your own coffee. You put gas in your car. Don’t let the fear of being alone deny you from living. Just live. Don’t question who you are simply because others do not know who they are. You know who you are and someone will love all of you.

Break ups aren’t a linear experience. They each come with their individual challenges but remember we are so much stronger than we give ourselves credit for. Find peace in your independence. Even though I mourn the love I lost and I yearn to be loved, I am content with loving myself.
