TODO
till the ocean dries out.
When my aunt passed away, she said “te quiero hasta que la mar se seque” translating to “I love you till the ocean dries out”. Todo means ‘everything’ but in this case TODO is an acronym for “till the ocean dries out” because I will continue to write till the ocean dries out.
My aunt had her own column in a Venezuelan newspaper. I felt inspired to create a space that not only honors her but carries on a tradition – a family of writers. Soon after her passing, a yellow butterfly kept appearing on my balcony. Till this day, I see yellow butterflies everywhere, a sign she is with me with every step I take. Te amo, Loli.

DEL MAR
from the sea…
My parents are from an island in Venezuela called Margarita. Inspired by our Venezuelan roots, they named me Alana Del Mar. This is TODO Del Mar.
